Skeem Saam actress Innocent “Sthoko” Sadiki has responded after netizens accused her of faking a house fire to claim insurance.
Innocent Sadiki Speaks After Being Accused Of Faking A House Fire
On 1 July, Innocent posted a video showing her and her husband, Pastor Phindulo Sadiki, comforting each other outside their burnt house. The couple revealed that they lost everything in the fire, which caused damages totalling R2 million. The cause of the raging inferno that left her with nothing is still unclear.
Innocent also appealed for donations to help them recover from the loss. However, soon after their plea, social media users began accusing them of setting the fire themselves. Some individuals shared a photo of the house that appeared abandoned, fueling the accusations.

In an interview with ZiMoja, Innocent expressed her disregard for the negative comments and suspicions. She questioned,
“What kind of mother would put her kids in such a traumatic experience just to trend or to gain fame? I would never do that to my kids. What kind of monster would I be? I told my family members and friends who have been sending me all the negative screengrabs from social media to stop.”
How The Family Is Currently Holding Up Following The Tragedy
The family is currently staying in temporary accommodation as they prepare for their children to return to school next week. Innocent is particularly worried about her children’s emotional state, as they are experiencing nightmares after witnessing the fire.
She has been arranging therapy for them to help them cope with the trauma:
“I am stressed about my kids’ books, school uniforms, and getting them into therapy. People’s opinions won’t help me at this time.”
Despite the accusations, Sadiki expressed gratitude to those who have supported her family:
“To my followers, churches, businesspeople, and celebrities who have been helpful, we are grateful for your support.”
