Somizi Mulls Over Return to Metro FM Amid Idols Cancellation Drama
Somizi Mhlongo, a well-known radio and TV personality, may return to Metro FM. He was fired by the station in 2021 after being accused of abuse by his ex-husband Mohale Motaung.
Metro FM removed Somizi from the Ask a Man feature in August 2021. According to a source, the station has been in talks with Somizi since last year, but they were cautious to avoid media reactions. Only a few of his friends were informed of the news.
After the rumored cancellation of Idols SA, Somizi will be out of a job as a resident judge on the show. The divorce with Mohale has been messy on social media and had threatened to end his career as a judge on idols before he was reinstated.
Somizi may come back for his job at Metro FM
The station has recently made changes to its lineup. Breakfast show presenter Mo Flava left, and new talent is being brought in. Felix Hlophe, the breakfast anchor for Gagasi FM, and Smash Afrika from 5FM are among the new additions. Some big names have also been shuffled around.
Other famous radio hosts like Hope Mbhele also joined the radio station last year when there was a big shuffle of the hosts. Many have been asking for Somizi to come back to the station for his previous job.
A source revealed that Tbo Touch’s contract was renewed, and his show brings in a lot of money. Melanie Son will join the afternoon drive to replace the late newsreader Pearl Shongwe.
