South African Man Claps Lawyer in Court After Being Denied Bail
Barely a day after the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial courtroom scuffle, a man gave his lawyer a warm klap after being denied bail.
The incident which was caught on video, was shared on X (formerly Twitter) and shows the man identified as Tyriq assaulting his lawyer after he was remanded in custody after being denied bail.
In the video which has since gone viral, a woman is heard shouting Tyriq’s name in the background in an effort to stop him from assaulting his lawyer. Tyriq’s co-accused also makes an effort to restrain him during the incident.

Online Reactions Pour In
After the video was shared on X, users weighed in on the incident. Opinions were mixed with some arguing that the lawyer deserved the hot clap for potentially providing false hope, others argued that Tyriq’s actions were a mockery of the South African justice system and called for appropriate consequences for his behaviour.
Below are some of the comments:
@terrystaden:
No respect for the Criminal Justice System.. I wish his lawyer can lay an assault charge against him and withdraw as his attorney of record. One of the reason I hate criminal law.. I wouldn’t take any criminal matters.
@kgosimfk:
🤣🤣 Warm Klap, this thing of lawyers promising accused that they’ll get bail,must stop. Lekker geklap.
@Techronic01:
If you know the promises that lawyers give, it might be that the lawyer promised them bail if they pay more money. That’s a problem never make a promise and take someone’s money then don’t deliver
@dramadelinquent:
He shows why he doesn’t deserve bail
@sandile_khubisa:
I hope he gets sentenced to a lengthy jail term. He comes across as a very disrespectful young man.
