The Springboks’ World Cup trophy tour has seemingly ended on a sour note as the team’s tour bus was involved in an accident on Monday.

The open-top tour bus, which had transported the Springbok team during its triumphant World Cup trophy tour in East London over the weekend, reportedly veered off the road and crashed into a gate. Pictures from the accident have already begun circulating on social media.

According to DispatchLive, the Springboks’ tour bus was travelling on the N6 towards the Free State when the incident occurred.

The bus was reportedly on its way from East London to Johannesburg when its brakes failed outside Maletswai (formerly Aliwal North) in the Eastern Cape. The bus went off the road and plowed through the security fence of a house before crashing into a gate.

Fortunately, the bus was not carrying any passengers when the incident happened. No injuries or death has been reported from the incident.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some asserting that the tour bus was not roadworthy. Some social media users made hilarious remarks, saying that it was “too tired,” while others argued that the incident happened because they left out Limpopo from their tour.
