Authorities in Eswatini have apprehended two South African nationals suspected to be the hitmen involved in AKA’s murder and other multiple murder cases.

Suspects Identified

The arrested individuals, aged 28 and 29, are brothers hailing from Durban, KwaZulu Natal. In their home country, they are wanted by the police for their alleged involvement in various murder cases, including the targeted killing of a musician and three taxi owners.

It is believed that after committing these crimes, the suspects fled to the Kingdom of Eswatini, where they were residing in a rented house. The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) apprehended them inside the rented property on Friday. Reports suggest that a third person living with them managed to evade arrest.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Aside from the murder charges, the suspects also face accusations of money laundering and kidnapping in their home country. In Eswatini, they are charged with residing in the country without valid documentation.

Sources reveal that the suspects, often referred to as “inkhabi” (hired assassins) in South Africa, are expected to make their initial court appearance in a local magistrate’s court soon. The arrest follows a provisional arrest request made by South African authorities through their Eswatini counterparts.

Background of Allegations

One of the suspects in South Africa is allegedly involved in the public transport industry, facing murder charges stemming from a business dispute with competitors. The arrest is considered provisional, indicating a perceived risk of the fugitives fleeing before extradition.

Confirmation by Authorities

Deputy Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni confirmed the arrest of the two South African nationals. She stated that the arrest was based on murder charges in their home country and pending extradition processing, they would face immigration law violation charges in Eswatini.
