Ukhozi FM Presenter Irvin “DJ Amen” Sihlophe Dies Aged 44: Cause of Death Revealed
Renowned Ukhozi FM presenter Irvin “DJ Amen” Sihlophe has died aged 44.
DJ Amen breathed his last on Thursday night at Addington Hospital in Durban following a severe stroke.
The radio personality was admitted to the hospital last Friday after suffering a stroke at his Durban residence. His untimely demise was confirmed by Ukhozi FM’s business manager, Sbongi Ngcobo, who shared that the Sihlophe family had requested her to make the announcement.

Ukhozi FM’s DJ Amen Cause of Death Revealed
Initially showing signs of recovery when visited by his Ukhozi FM colleagues on Wednesday, DJ Amen’s health took a turn for the worse on Thursday as he experienced another severe stroke, ultimately leading to his death.
“As Ukhozi FM we knew that he suffered a stroke and was hospitalised at Addington Hospital. We went to see him and he was recovering. We hoped he would be out soon. We last visited him on Wednesday, 8 November and he was talking to us, but we were told that on Thursday, 9 November a severe stroke attacked him again and claimed his life,” she said.
DJ Amen Dies: Tributes Pour In
Sbongi extended the condolences of the Ukhozi family to the Sihlophe family and listeners. She praised DJ Amen as a dedicated team member who consistently offered assistance to others.
“We worked with Irvin very well. I have never heard anyone talk bad about Irvin. It was early to work with Irvin, and he was committed to working for Ukhozi FM. He always wanted to help anytime there was a need for help. We will feel his absence. We are heartbroken, but we cannot be against God’s decision. We will always love and remember Irvin,” she said.

Describing DJ Amen as someone who seamlessly worked across various Ukhozi departments, including religious shows, sports, and education, Sbongi highlighted his selflessness and positive impact on people’s lives.

Irvin dedicated over 15 years to Ukhozi FM, presenting the popular religious show, Unkulunkulu Nomuntu Omusha, and contributing to sports and other programs.
