Popular Ukhozi FM presenter and founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, Zanele Mbokazi, has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Kambule, revealed this earlier this morning during an interview on Ukhozi FM.
Mbokazi is recovering in hospital after an emergency surgery.
Bishop Kambule said:
“We thank God for all the prayers from Ukhozi FM listeners. We wanna say, let us not speculate. Fifteen days ago, Zanele fell ill and even on the following Sunday during her show, she lost her voice. Then [last Monday], we took her to hospital. She was taken to the theatre for checkups. It was discovered that she was suffering from lung cancer.”
The Sudden Illness
Mbokazi had been in hospital following a sudden health scare.
On Monday, April 29, 2024, during her live radio show, she experienced problems with her breathing and fell sick. Her colleague, Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu, stepped in to cover for her. Subsequently, Zanele was hospitalised for a week.
“Paramedics were called to assist her after she struggled to breathe and complained of chest pains. Initially, we thought it was a heart attack, but after doctors checked, it turned out to be something around her stomach,” a source revealed.
Fortunately, she underwent surgery for shortness of breath, which was successful. She is currently recovering well in the hospital.

A few days ago, Zanele expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well-wishes from fans, pastors, artists, and friends. Despite the challenges, she remains positive and encourages others not to fear when faced with obstacles.
News of her hospitalisation raised concerns among the public, who suspect foul play. This was because the late Ukhozi FM presenter, Bheka ‘Bheekay’ Mchunu, also had a health scare during a show in March. The radio presenter tragically passed away on March 12.
