Uzalo Actors Finally Get Paid In Time After Threatening To Strike

Following January’s mini-strike, many of Uzalo’s actors believed they would not get paid, or delay to get paid for February salaries.

But to their surprise, their salaries were paid in time this time around and the situation promises to have gone back to normal.

“I was staring on my phone, waiting for a payment notification. When I received the notification, I was relieved. Not being paid on time cost me a lot last month,” one of the actors said, revealing they had gotten paid.

Last month, a few of the actors who spoke to Daily Sun on anonymity claimed were holding their breath and crossing their fingers with fears that they may not get paid for February – like they did for January.

Uzalo failed to pay its workers in January. This forced most of the cast to down their tools and go for a strike, an insider revealed.

After a few talks with the cast, they were back to work.

Despite woes that continue to affect the show in so many ways, Uzalo has managed to maintain number one spot as the most watched show in Mzansi.

And they have started shooting for season 7 this month.

The producers roped in the prominent businesswoman and socialite, Shawn Mkhize to make her first debut into acting career for season 7.

This, as four of their big stars – GC, Mxolisi, Thobile and Mastermind – who were laid off last year got recalled to revive the failing show.

It is widely alleged in papers that SABC gave the show producers a warning to pull up their socks after going on a dowslope, losing millions of viewers.

These new developments are part of means to revive the show and get the cast motivated.
