After last month’s strike that saw many of SABC’s most watched telenovela cast members down their tools, the same cast is anticipating the same problem that forced them to strike to repeat itself.

They believe that they may not get paid, or delay to get paid like they did a month previously.

Speaking to Daily Sun last Friday, Uzalo actors claimed they were not paid their salaries last month, which led them to abandon shooting.

“We abandoned shooting last month until they paid us our salaries. But we can’t hide the fact that we’re worried that we won’t be able to pay our bills on,” they lamented.

They are now holding their breath and crossing their fingers with fear that they may not get paid for this month too.

We don’t know what is waiting for us this month. We’re scared,” added one of the actors.

But the show’s spokesperson, Nomfundo Zondi came to the management’s defence and rather claimed last month’s delay in payment was a technical issue not to be worried about.

She further assured the publication that there are no financial woes in the company, hence, actors shouldn’t fear for anything to happen.

“We are not aware that actors are worried. But they shouldn’t worry because everything is sorted,” said Nomfundo.

Uzalo woes continue to affect the show in so many ways.

Last month, it lost its key lead actress, Thandeka Dawn King. Many believe due to uncertainty most actors have about the show.

It was given a warning a few months ago by SABC to up its game after going on a dowslope, losing millions of viewers.
