A few weeks ago, his career was hanging on a thread after he suddenly lost his voice.

Fortunate enough, his voice is naturally back again and it’s business as usual for Cebolenkosi Mthembu.

Uzalo’s Cebolenkosi Mthembu who portrays the role of Captain Nyawo from KwaMashu on SABC 1 soapie stopped shooting for season 7 of the show and also put a pause on his radio presentating career at Vibe FM after he lost his voice to Covid-19.

A month later he’s now singing a different song and revealed to the media that he was back on Uzalo set.

“I was starting to think that maybe my ancestors are angry or they have turned their backs on me. But now it’s clear that it was just the medical condition,” he said.

“I have started shooting. Although my voice is not fully recovered, it is better than before. I’m also going back to radio on Saturday,” said Cebolenkosi.

Cebolenkosi had almost given up on his voice after trying so hard to recover, but to no avail.

“I went back to consult a doctor, but he gave me something for Covid. I have tried drinking honey and Vitamin C supplements, but nothing is working,” he revealed last month.

But using the same method for over a month has helped him at last.

He added that he tried out Vitamin C supplements, onions and garlic among many things.

“I also used warm water and many other things, so I don’t know what actually helped,” he said.

Doctors have discussed the drastic post Covid-19 symptoms and complications, some patients have been facing, which include breathing problems, diminished sense of smell, in some cases, seizures and damage to vocal chords, leading to voice loss.
