Why Kelly Khumalo Hasn’t Been Arrest Despite Murder Mastermind Allegations

South Africans have been questioning why singer Kelly Khumalo has not been arrested in connection with the Senzo Meyiwa murder case.

However, it has been revealed that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) did not give the police the green light to arrest Khumalo.

In a recent court hearing at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, significant evidence was presented suggesting that Khumalo played a central role in Meyiwa’s killing.

Allegations Against Khumalo

Brigadier Bongani Gininda, the lead investigator in the case, stated that two of the accused individuals, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, implicated Khumalo as the person who ordered the hit on Meyiwa. Gininda explained that cellphone analysis revealed a photo in Khumalo’s cellphone memory album showing a see-through bag with cash notes, placed in the same position as a similar photo found on the cellphone of the third accused.

“It was further discovered that, through cellphone analysis, her cellphone memory album has the same photo of a see-through bag containing cash notes and in the exact position or location or spot as that of accused number three,” Gininda told the court.

According to Gininda, it was apparent that Khumalo harboured animosity towards Meyiwa and wanted to eliminate him. The police made efforts to arrest Khumalo in November 2020, including a request for a J50 warrant of arrest, which, unfortunately, was not approved by the NPA.

Why Kelly Khumalo Has Not Been Arrested

Gininda disclosed that a decision was made at that time to charge five individuals, excluding Khumalo. Although he couldn’t provide further details regarding his discussion with the NPA, he acknowledged that certain aspects related to Kelly Khumalo had to be investigated.

“A decision was taken at that time that these are the people that must be indicted, and that is accused one to five. I cannot disclose further details in terms of my discussion with the NPA, but there were certain things that had to be looked into insofar as Ms Kelly Khumalo, ” Gininda explained.

As of now, the NPA has not responded to Gininda’s allegations.
