Zodwa Wabantu Refuses to Refund Club Owner After Missing Scheduled Gig

Controversial exotic dancer South African Zodwa Wabantu is at the centre of a heated dispute after failing to honour a booking at Stengas Place, a well-known club in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni.

She is also refusing to pay back the money she received as a booking fee, claiming that she is her ancestor’s child and that she does not return money that she has been given by her ancestors.

Zodwa Wabantu Pulls a No-show

The club’s owner, Stenga Shabangu, claims that despite receiving full payment for the performance, Zodwa did not appear, leaving him in financial trouble.

Stenga told Daily Sun that Zodwa had been scheduled to perform on Saturday, 7 September, but failed to show up, much to the disappointment of fans who had gathered outside the venue.

Payment Dispute Unfolds

According to Stenga, the agreed performance fee was R13,000, with an R8,000 deposit paid in June and the remaining R5,000 settled in July. In exchange for the full payment, Zodwa was supposed to perform and also create a promotional video for the event, which she did. However, after the no-show, the situation took a turn for the worse.

People were furious. They accused me of scamming them because Zodwa didn’t appear. I even asked her to do a video to apologize to her fans,” Stenga said.

Despite the apology video, Stenga insists he’s not interested in any explanations.

I’m hurt by what she did. The worst part is she didn’t even communicate that she wouldn’t make it. She was the main act, and we lost money because people refused to buy tickets until they saw her.”

Zodwa Refuses to Return Money

Zodwa Wabantu, known for her unfiltered personality, confirmed receiving the booking fee but made it clear she would not refund the money. Speaking to Daily Sun, Zodwa said,

I’m an ancestor’s child, and when money comes in, there’s no way I can give it back because I’ve asked for it from my ancestors.”

Zodwa suggested that instead of a refund, she could perform at a future date for the same amount.

I didn’t attend his event because it was on the same day as another gig that paid me well. I thought I could make it, but I couldn’t.”
