AKA Murder Case| Police Share More Details About The Rapper’s Murder Investigation
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has provided information about the investigation into the death of AKA through a briefing.
The briefing comes a month after the famous South African hip-hop rapper was shot and killed in Durban.
Rapper AKA was shot and killed outside Wish Restaurant in Morningside, Durban, alongside the celebrity chef, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi spoke to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) about unsolved murder cases, including the case of AKA. He gave an update on the progress of the investigation.
He said that they are almost done with their investigation and that the people in the community have been very helpful in providing information that has been useful to the police.
“KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says investigation into the murder of rapper Kiernan Forbes, known as AKA are yielding positive results. AKA was shot dead outside a popular night spot on Durban’s Florida Road a month ago.
“We want to encourage communities to come on board and share information. The investigation of Mr Forbes who was murdered last month; majority of the work we did thus far it is because of the help from the community. The different cameras in that vicinity are not installed by the state, but it is those cameras that are helping us to analyse and identify some of those people who might have been involved and it helps us to make linkages,” he says.
A few weeks ago, Police Minister Bheki Cele said that the police were gathering information from people’s cell phones to help with their investigations.
