A video has surfaced showing how two VIP bodyguards belonging to the Mayor and municipal manager were involved in a shooting within the chambers of the City of uMhlathuze in KwaZulu-Natal.
City Of uMhlathuze VIP Bodyguards In Fatal Shooting
The incident occurred during a meeting at the municipality council chamber on Thursday morning, March 28th. The victims, who remain unidentified, served as bodyguards for Mayor Xolani Ngwezi and municipal manager Nkosenye Zulu.
The incident occurred amidst a reported clash between the two bodyguards before shots were fired. The exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, with unconfirmed rumours circulating. Fortunately, neither Mayor Ngwezi nor Manager Zulu, to whom the bodyguards were assigned, were harmed.

Municipal spokesman Bongani Gina confirmed the tragic event, requesting time to gather further details:
“The City of uMhlathuze Municipality regrets to inform the public of a tragic shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning at the municipal offices.”
Gina further informed that the police had confirmed the loss of two lives in the incident.
“Law enforcement authorities are currently on the scene,” he added, “to manage the situation and investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.”
The Video Of The Incident
The viral video of the incident shows the bodyguard of City Manager Nkosenye Zulu entering the chambers, unaware of the approaching bodyguard of Mayor Xolani Ngwezi. Despite attempts by other bodyguards to intervene, the mayor’s bodyguard fired multiple shots at Zulu’s bodyguard, who had fallen to the ground and died, before fleeing the scene.

Although not captured in the video, the Mayor’s bodyguard was also fatally shot, allegedly by another bodyguard affiliated with Zulu. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
