Drama off the Set: Scandal’s “Dr Nyasha Mugari” Jerome Galiao Arrested for Assaulting Wife
Jerome Galiao, a Zimbabwean actor known for playing the role of Dr Nyasha Mugari on the TV show Scandal, has been arrested for domestic violence.
According to H-Metro, the 38-year-old actor was taken into custody on March 27 at Linden Police Station in Randburg. His wife, Nerissa Mema, declined to speak to the media and requested privacy.
A source told H-Metro that Galiao was arrested for domestic violence and is expected to appear in court on March 28. The source also claimed that this was not the first time that Galiao had physically assaulted his wife:
Jerome is in police custody in Randburg. He was arrested last night for domestic violence. He is in the cells and will appear in court on Tuesday (today). You can contact SAPS for more information. This is not the first time he has bashed her.”
Jerome Galiao’s fast-rising career before he was arrested
Jerome Galiao began his career in Zimbabwe as a presenter on the show Youth.com before landing a role on the soapie Estate Blues.
He later migrated to South Africa in 2008 because Zimbabwe’s economic state was collapsing, and he was searching for greener pastures.
Jerome Galiao later appeared in several television productions, including Umlilo, The Queen, Zabalaza, Gomora, Broken Vows, The River, Isithembiso, Hope and Binnelanders.
In 2021, he landed the role of Dr Nyasha Mugari on Scandal! which was the turning point in his career. He then became a household name because of his physique, talent and role as Nyasha. Galiao is also a VIP protection security and a fitness trainer, in addition to being a father of two.
