The Miss South Africa Organisation has announced that married women will now be able to compete in the pageant for the first time in 2023. This year’s competition is open to all women, regardless of their marital status or whether they have children.
The pageant’s organisers aim to showcase the diverse nature of women and their multifaceted roles as leaders, innovators, mothers, daughters, philanthropists, role models, ambassadors, and queens.

Ground-breaking Seven-Part TV Series: Crown Chasers
In addition to the rule change, the Miss South Africa Organisation has also introduced a ground-breaking seven-part TV series called Crown Chasers. The series follows the competition’s finalists as they participate in real-life Miss South Africa scenarios and challenges, based on the pageant’s four pillars: duty, championship, empowerment, and beauty.
All finalists will move into Miss SA HQ, where they will be tested on their entrepreneurial and business skills. They will be asked to find innovative ways to encourage tourism, support female-owned businesses, or showcase aspects of their culture or heritage. Each week, a judging panel will select a challenge winner. The series will culminate in a live pageant finale where the winner will be crowned.

The Entry Process
The Miss SA Organisation aims to make the entry process as easy as possible. There are no forms to download, and entrants do not have to travel to regional auditions. To enter the competition, hopefuls must post an introduction video on social media using #MissSA2023 and tag Miss SA and Crown Chasers on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. Entrants can also enter on the Miss SA App or visit www.misssa.co.za, answer several questions, upload two pictures (one head and shoulders and one full body image), and provide the link to their entry video.
