Skhumba Just Doesn’t Cut It – Mzansi Tweeps
Television presenter, radio host, and comedian Skhumba reached the number one trending spot on Twitter this morning and had Mzansi tweeps divided over his talents. It all started when a tweep compared the Thembisa born entertainer to internationally acclaimed acts Kevin Hart, Trevor Noah, and Chris Rock, with a caption asking who was the funniest.
An onslaught of opinions broke out as social media users shared their views, with many tweeps questioning why Skhumba was on the list. Other tweeps, however, supported the Kaya FM radio host, labeling those who said Skhumba did not deserve to be on the list as classists. Tweeps argued that just because Skhumba delivers his sets in IsiZulu, his mother tongue does not mean he is not funny. The opposing camp was quick to point out that even if that were true, Skhumba’s inability to deliver sets in an international language disqualified him from the list.
“@Senzy_Brown What is Skhumba even doing here and where tf is Dave chappelle and Steve Harvey”
“@Meleky_ML Honestly! Skhumba may not be in the same level as those 3 but he’s just as funny tbh, his jokes are relatable… and/or his target audience isn’t the same as those 3, I think those are some if not the only differences, but in terms or delivery, he’s just as good”
“@McSeel1 Skhumba ain’t funny maan. Comparing him to Chris Rock is disrespectful to Chris. Chris Rock and Trevor Noah are top two here. Kevin o lukewarm. Skhumba just doesn’t cut it!!!!”
“@tfombeni Stand up! Okay. Kev makes lame jokes Trevor tells stories, I laugh every 8 mins Chris can say anything with emphasis, sprinkle some profanity and I’m laughing. Skhumba…I’m on the floor lmao for an hour straight! No breaks! Skhumba wins”
