Unathi Nkayi Finally Addresses Why Her Friendship With Somizi Ended
Unathi Nkayi has explained why her friendship with fellow Idol SA judge Somizi Mhlongo has ended. This has ended a lot of speculation and guessing about why the two stopped being close.
Fans had been wondering what had happened. Unathi and Somizi used to be very close and gave the show extra spice. But then, they went their separate ways. Unathi recently said that she is taking legal action against her old employer Kaya 959.
On social media, she made it clear that she does not hate Somizi. But their connection ended when Somizi took sides after Unathi‘s divorce from her ex–husband Thomas Msengana.
Why Unathi Nkayi and Somizi ended their friendship
Unathi said, “Thomas and I got divorced. You and Randall Abrahams did not choose sides, but he did. Even when we were on the judging panel of Idol SA, I was professional, but he was choosing sides. It was okay for him to go on trips with Thomas, but we said you can‘t cross this line. He‘d come back and say bad things about me on the same show, so then it was obvious he had chosen sides. I don‘t hate him, we haven‘t fought, we just don‘t have a relationship because he chose sides.”
In 2021, Unathi Nkayi made comments on the issue of R Kelly and fans said that she had no leg to stand on as she is friends with men who have been accused of abuse. Fans meant Jub Jub and Somizi to which she responded that she is not friends with Somizi.
Since then fans have been wondering what really happened between the two former Idols judges as they were close and inseparable before.
When asked for a comment on the matter, a source close to Somizi did not respond.
