Veteran actor Sello Maake kaNcube has refuted allegations of assault made by his estranged wife, Pearl Mbewe, and revealed plans to take legal action against her.
The Suit star, embroiled in a turbulent marriage, described the claims as part of a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation.

Sello Maake kaNcube Pursues Legal Action Against Wife Pearl Mbewe
Speaking to ZiMoja, Maake kaNcube said:
“I firmly deny the allegations. It appears that this is a co-ordinated effort to create unfounded claims against me.” He added, “I will not stoop low and engage in this mud-slinging. I am consulting with my legal team regarding these matters.”
The actor’s response follows reports that Mbewe, a public relations specialist, opened an assault case against him, which nearly led to his arrest. However, during a visit to the police station for questioning, Maake kaNcube filed a counter-charge against her, a move that has intensified their ongoing marital discord.
Mbewe also alleged that the actor transmitted a chronic illness to her. Reports indicate that the couple’s relationship has been unstable for months, marked by public spats and accusations.
The Marital Woes
In June, ZiMoja reported that Maake kaNcube felt trapped in his marriage. A source revealed a physical altercation between the pair at the Grahamstown Arts Festival in the Eastern Cape, which ended with the actor abandoning Mbewe. She reportedly drove back to their Soweto home with friends.
The source added that Mbewe was hoping the latest allegations would result in her husband being detained. However, Maake kaNcube avoided arrest after filing his counter-charge.
The actor, known for roles in Skeem Saam and The Queen, has maintained his innocence throughout the escalating saga. Meanwhile, Mbewe has not publicly responded to the counter-claims or the legal measures her husband plans to pursue.
