In a shocking and disturbing development, a prominent businessman was shot and killed while standing outside his tavern.
Andries Nzimeni, the former CEO, was gunned down at his tavern in Bergman Square in Bloemfontein, Free State Province.
CCTV footage capturing the moment 52-year-old Andries Nzimeni was assassinated has emerged on social media.
Nzimeni’s killing bores a resemblance to the tragic shooting of rapper AKA, also known as Kiernan Forbes, last year outside Wish Restaurant in Florida, Durban.

In the video footage shared on social media, the assailant can be seen casually passing Andries Nzimeni and a colleague as they stood outside the tavern.
Without warning, the assailant makes a U-turn, retraces his steps, and starts shooting at Nzimeni at close range until he collapses to the ground.
Nzimeni’s colleague runs for cover as the armed man continues firing shots, mainly targeting Nzimeni’s head until he stops moving.
After the shooting, the assailant casually walks away in the same direction he came from.

Police Investigation and Suspect’s Escape
Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli has since confirmed the tragic shooting incident happened at around 8:25pm on Friday night.
“It is alleged that the deceased was standing with a friend outside the tavern when an unknown assailant approached and opened fire, fatally wounding Nzimeni,” Kareli stated.
According to the police, the suspect reportedly fled the scene in a white Mercedes Benz vehicle.

The senseless murder of Nzimeni has not only left the patrons of the tavern reeling but has also shocked social media users. Netizens argue that this was a setup and an organized hit on Nzimeni. There are suspicions that his colleague, the one he was standing with, might have had a hand in the assassination.
