Free At Last: Prince Kaybee Celebrates Dumping Universal Music Group After 8 Years
South African DJ and producer Prince Kaybee has announced that he is leaving Universal Music Group to pursue his career solo.
He has been with the record label for eight years but has expressed dissatisfaction, saying that he was being sabotaged. At first, their relationship looked fruitful to the public as Prince Kaybee became one of the most famous South African Artists under the label.
However, Prince Kaybee went on a social media rant to say that the label has been sabotaging him, and he hardly gets the money he is supposed to get from his music. Many fans have been supportive of the artist through the last months with the label.
Prince Kaybee announces his split from Universal Music Group
He announced the split on social media and posted the record label’s statement, which confirmed that they had mutually terminated the agreement but would continue to commercially exploit the recordings and make payment to him if due.
“The parties have agreed to mutually terminate the agreement with effect from April 3 2023, and UM releases you from the delivery of any further recordings in terms of the agreement.
“UM shall continue to commercially exploit the recordings and account and make payment (if due) to you in terms of the agreement. We thank you for the opportunity of working with us, and we wish you every success in the future.”
While excited about the move, Prince Kaybee admitted to feeling nervous since he has never worked on his own before. Fans are supportive of the artist as he starts his career as a solo act with no label.
