From Fan Favorite To Foe| The Wife Actor Stoan “Sefako” Seate Faces Twitter Fury Over Anti-EFF Tweet
Twitter users spared no criticism for renowned musician Stoan Seate, who expressed profanity-laced disapproval of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) national shutdown on Monday.
The EFF-led national shutdown aims to demand the resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa, and an end to load-shedding, among other issues.
Stoan Seate’s use of an F-bomb to criticize the red berets on Twitter provoked the anger of EFF supporters.
The Bongo Muffin musician faced a barrage of criticism, with many accusing him of being a “paid mouthpiece” for the ANC government, following his recent tender award.
@Mphodoza
Just because department of arts and culture gave you a tender in the North West
We understand you singing for supper.
@abby_twa2:
ANC beneficiaries. We see uou
@OJay92122825:
You see what tenders do to people’s consciousness, a boy from the village of Matile in NW now thinks he has arrived.
EFF lawmaker Naledi Chirwa shared similar views, and she took it a step further by using an F-bomb directed at Stoan Seate, stating that he cannot act.
Stoan Seate is currently playing the character of Sefako in season three of The Wife.
@NalediMpungose_:
A little tender in the North West makes you swear at us for no reason? Fuck you le wena Stoan. Ebile you can’t act
However, some Twitter users attempted to bring a sense of balance to the conversation and criticized those attacking Stoan Seate for expressing his views.
This follows South Africans on Twitter lauding another musician, Prince Kaybee, for his support of the EFF and participation in the national shutdown.
@Teboho_Sebata:
When other public figures stand up for EFF no one hails insults on them. Prince Kaybee is vocal on supporting EFF and everyone is twerking for him but Stoan is being attacked, we are not serious.
@Lisa_S1:
The replies here 🙄🙄🙄 people attacking a person because he doesn’t support their party… BUWA STOAN BUWA
