Life Imitates Art: Humbulani Tsharani ‘Mulimisi’ From Muvhango Sells Traditional Tlof Tlof Booster
Humbulani Tsharani, an actor on the South African TV show Muvhango, sells a traditional medicine called Mpesu as a side business. Tsharani plays the role of Mulimisi, a traditional healer on the show, and his side hustle has amused many of his fans. Mpesu is a popular medicine in Venda that helps men with erectile dysfunction.
Tsharani has been selling Mpesu for a few years and has made a lot of money from it. He says his fans and customers are often surprised to learn that he sells the medicine. Tsharani quickly points out that he is not selling Mpesu because he is broke but because he wants to make extra money to support his family.

Tsharani’s customers are mostly men who want to improve their performance in bed. He has even had celebrity clients. Many of his customers are desperate to save their marriages, and Tsharani has become their “wingman.” Despite the medicine’s popularity, many men insist on keeping it a secret from their spouses.
Tsharani believes it’s wise not to confine oneself to just one thing, especially in this economy. He is grateful for his acting job but doesn’t want to limit himself to that. Tsharani says he could decide to sell something else tomorrow, but that wouldn’t mean his acting gig isn’t going well.
