Video: Cape Town Shopper Turns Social Media Hero After He Tackles Cellphone Thief
A cellphone thief tried to steal a customer’s phone while pretending to shop at Spar Parow Valley in Cape Town, South Africa.
However, a shopper noticed the thief sprinting towards the glass door and stretched out his leg to trip the thief. The criminal tumbled and slid for a few metres, but he quickly gathered himself, hoping to bust through the glass entrance.
Unfortunately for the thief, the supermarket’s security and a customer standing outside had already shut it.
The bespectacled Rasta, who tackled the thief, bulldozed his way through four other people pinning the thief and then punched him.
A CCTV footage of the incident was shared on Twitter, and many people were thrilled to see the shopper deliver a smooth tackle on the cellphone thief.

“Time for the community to assist the police in policing themselves. They are the eyes and ears of the police. As long as it is done within the prescribed law, there is nothing wrong with citizens arrest..always be vigilant (sic).”
